How do I learn to drive a Rigid Truck in Dublin?

To begin Rigid Truck Driving Lessons in Dublin you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age and a holder of a Category B Licence.
- Get your Public Services Card. You will need this to sit your theory test
- Apply for and pass the Category C Theory test (theory test.ie). You can also do a combined Truck and Bus theory test to gain a learner permit in both categories.
- For convenience, you should also sit the CPC Case Studies exam at the same time as you cannot work professionally like a truck or bus driver without an up to date CPC.
- Apply for an appointment to get your learner permit at NDLS.IE or alternatively you can turn up any day and wait in line (which often only takes 20/30 Minutes and can be preferable to waiting 6 weeks for an appointment).
- Before attending the NDLS center you need to get a Medical Certificate completed by your doctor (the form is available on the NDLS website). You also need to bring photographic ID, Proof of Address, Evidence of residency entitlement and PPS Verification.
- After attending the NDLS Centre you should receive the new Learner permit within 10 days and are then entitled to start taking rigid driving lessons.

If you have never driven a truck before then you will be looking at around 10 hours of driving lessons in the Rigid Lorry in order to pass the Category C Driving Test. Due to the length of the test route (70 minutes) 2 Hour lessons are most beneficial.
